Starting with kernel 2.6.37-0.slh.1-aptosid-{686,amd64}, the "]ar9170usb" driver, used for Atheros AR9170 USB 802.11 wlan devices, will be replaced by its successor "carl9170". The advantages of using carl9170 over ar9170usb are:
actual support for 802.11n (HT operations)
AP mode
actively maintained and developed
carl9170 requires a new firmware not packaged in firmware-atheros yet, please make sure to download: http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/chr/carl9170/fw/1.9.2/carl9170-1.fw and store it as
Code:
9e33ac39dcd610aa1ad80bbf4f1abccf */lib/firmware/carl9170-1.fw
It is recommended to install firmware-atheros as well. |

Seems that the new kernel solved my connection problems with that chip. There are still some (very few) disconnects, but it's reconnecting automatically now. Thanks to whoever is responsible for it. |

Thanks. I had the problem that my wireless USB stopped working when upgrading, but to include this driver was restored the connection. |
