          | Hi, yesterday I tried to reinstall a laptop completely from scratch. Installed ISO to hard disk. Restarted. Went to init 3 and did a d-u It resulted in the following errors:

It recommends to install a newer version of dpkg which is not possible due to the same errors:

apt-get -f install also results in the same errors. Any help apreciated. Thanks in advance

          | It is a sad situation. You don't say what desktop you are trying to install. You could try installing Siduction they have a more recent iso and then change the repros to aptosid or install Debian first as described here http://aptosid.com/index.php?name=PNphp ... p;start=15

Just recently I installed Bunsen labs based on stable with a customised Openbox desktop from their excellent live iso but after a week I was missing sid so changed the repros to sid and aptosid also installed slh kernel it all went smoothly and runs fine with Lxqt as my desktop.
