Has anyone who uses KDE's "activities" noticed that since the upgrade of KDE from 4.10.5 to 4.11 the activities feature no longer functions correctly?
Prior to the upgrade I often had 5 or more activities available but now I can have no more than 2 activities without problems arising. Creating any more than 2 activities soon results in the stopped symbol appearing on some of the activity icons and the config wrench being replaced with a delete button. As I understand it this is usually caused by a lack of resources but surely if there were enough resources for 4 to 5 activities with KDE4.10.5 there should be enough with KDE4.11.
Also if an application is opened in a 3rd activity that application appears in all activities. This destroys the whole concept of separate activities.
I hesitate to raise a bug with KDE as my KDE4.11 is a siduction version provided by santa.
Also I'm aware that not many users actually use KDE's activities and therefore bugs can go unnoticed but I need them.
Code:
inxi
CPU~Dual core AMD Athlon II X2 240 (-MCP-) clocked at 800.000 Mhz Kernel~3.10-10.towo-siduction-amd64 x86_64 Up~1:38 Mem~1661.7/3959.7MB HDD~250.1GB(48.5% used) Procs~151 Client~Shell inxi~1.8.4

For the record: In Debian unstable is 4.10.5 at the moment, so we are talking really about an unofficial repository here.
(just so that nobody is panicking now)
I am not a KDE user, so I have basically no idea, but KDE4.11 was released ~2 weeks, so it might be possible that the packaged version is not 4.11 but some pre-release. "Lack of resources" after a while suggests memory-leaks which are usually found relatively quickly and fixed in point releases. KDE does some rapid-release schedule, doesn't they? |

Actually, KDE 4.11.1 was released on September 3 (yesterday)
The KDE Project proudly announced a few minutes ago, September 3, the immediate availability for download and update of the first maintenance release for the KDE Software Compilation 4.11 desktop environment.
KDE 4.11.1 repairs over 70 bugs reported by users from the previous release, re-implements the drag-and-drop from taskbar to pager function, fixes highlighting and color in the Kate text editor, and squashes lots of bugs in the Kmahjongg game.
Moreover, KDE 4.11.1 includes improvements to the KWin window manager, the Dolphin file manager, which should have a smoother scroll, as well as the Plasma desktop, which now starts faster.
"These updates are the first in a series of monthly stabilization updates to the 4.11 series. As was announced on the release, the workspaces will continue to receive updates for the next two years."
"This release only contains bugfixes and translation updates and will be a safe and pleasant update for everyone," the official release announcement reads. http://www.kde.org/announcements/announce-4.11.1.php |

FYI:Today's du which included kde-runtime, kde-runtime-data and kdebase-runtime seems to have cured my activity problems. |
