Upgrade broke xscreensaver glslideshow.
Seems a script failed.
How do I roll back the xscreensaver and xscreensaver-gl packages? |

I've got xscreensaver glslideshow running.
Seems you need a lot more packages now to do the trick.
This is my 'brute force' method:
From an aptosid xfce install, install gnome-desktop-environment.
You need gdm3.
Then add 'clearlooks' support:
Install gnome-themes
gnome-themes-extras
gtk2-engines
gtk2-engines-pixbuf
Then add 'lwp' support:
Install libwww-perl
liblwp-mediatypes-perl
liblwp-protocol-https-perl
You might need to add more packages with 'xscreensaver' in their name:
Install xscreensaver
xscreensaver-data
xscreensaver-data-extra
xscreensaver-gl
xscreensaver-gl-extra
As I have said, this is 'brute force',
but it works and it's easy to describe.
There could be a method that is more direct,
'elegant' as Clement Lefebvre of Mint linux might say.
I used 'Add/Remove Software' in gnome 3
and 'xscreensaver-demo' error messages
to research the needed packages. |
