Post subject: motion blur effect in aptosid wallpaper?

How did you achieve that "motion blur(streaks)" effect used in the aptosid imera wallpaper?
If I edit the effect with inkscapes new filter editor, it seems like a combined effect to me. It isn't in the filter menu, too. |

you are correct in your guess that it's a layered effect, but it's more complicated than that  . I spent a lot of time tweaking the parameters of said layered effects to achieve the end result. you won't find it in any menu. while i don't remember the exact combination of effects, the basic idea was to "explode" the shape, then blur it vertically. the "explosion" was achieved by layering effects like scatter->cubes, distort->roughen inside, and distort->torn edges. have fun playing around with the layering. each result is unique  |
