I have a wish

On the sidux forum I have noticed that there are a lot of things handled in German, very much threads that would be of interest for the non German speaking part of the users. I have asked for help some times and got no answers but after looking at the German part of the forum found that there are some answers there and issues discussed there which I would have had good help of if I could understand it better.

So my wish is that all you Germans try to ask your questions, specially if the issues can be helpful for all of us, in English on the English forum as much as possible.

It´s a pity if the forum which is and will be a huge knowledge-base for all of us users will be divided in different languages with a big part being German which is not very understandable for the rest of us.

it was always devided. a lot of german users want a german forum because some do not speak EN good enough to feel secure.
native lang is always the best to express yourself. i see no real solution to that Sad

I think this will be solved by the seperation into an english & a german forum.
I agree with you, that this is frustrating, but its an gordian knot! Not everybody in Germany speaks such a good english as you skandinavians, so i am afraid, that there would never be an equivalent between the two forums.

I honestly would have prfered a single forum for all of us... but lets see, what the future brings

Sorry but I think the separation is not a good thing. I did like the Eng/German forum better. Easy to browse through for people how can speak both. Now I have to check two sites. Some Germans might want to post in German but most of them can read English.

well, DE and EN forum differ in more than the language.
DE forum is a community forum run by me, EN forum is run by the team. both have different policies.

My opinion too. It's kind of strange to browse two supportforums for one distro. I felt very comfortable with the "old" solution, both major languages in one forum but still devided. Please rethink that decision, would you?

As devil said, it has the advantage of possible different policies. Beside that, we already have a few other community forums like greek or portoguese (pt_BR) so its just fair to slip the german one out -- or otherwise we should "import" the others here, too, which will be kind of strange as i wouldn't be able to understand half of the forum posts -- and that was exactly the problem for the english-only speakers in the past…

You could always ask in eglish in a german thread for a short translated summarize if a problem has been solved.

Finde es auch schade, das Forum aufzuspalten Sad

I understand that it will be like this, I have been in Germany a lot an d know that there are a lot of people not speaking English well enough to communicate. Then I hope that you all on the dev team and others who know a lot can think about this that they maybe can think of that if they have answered something in one language they can also do it in the other language.

One important example for me was that I asked for help with a Huawei modem in the English forum, maybe I didn´t use the right words but I did´t really got a useful answer. After a while when I found out that it is called umts, then I made a search and found a good answer to my problem from slam in German. This answer I would have had on my question in English.

yes, I dislike that also. But I do not have any idea about a solution for it. And two different communities might develop different "style of collaboration/communication". And that will evolute...
Lets give a chance and see in three month!

I'm also not very satisfied that I now need to watch two different forums. The old solution was very good IMHO. And now I have to ask questions twice I guess Wink. I'd really prefer one single forum with an english and german part, you just have to look once for new posts, not open next address and look there too. Dividing the forum is for me as if you send the german users into some kind of ghetto...
