I tried to remove kernels on a new aptosid-install (i did du twice since the new install).
The scripts starts, shows me old kernels (even an 2.6.32 - and I rellay don't know, where this is coming from... mayby old traces in the mbr of the former install???), and if I click okay, the indows just vanishes.
A new script-start shows me, that nothing has changed. |

Triggered by this post I just run kernel-remover and removed two kernels. All went fine.
Of course you have to check [x] the kernels to be removed and then click ok.

hmmm, as I said, its strange that there is an old kernel in my grub, so i gues theese are traces from the old mbr.
But how can that be possible, and more important, how do i get rid of them? |

Are those kernels still present in your /boot directory?

grub2 shows all the kernels on your system. (other partitions, too.)
If you have ubuntu installed on other partition, for example, grub2 should offer to
boot it too.
kernel-remover should not show the kernels from other partitions. |

A few requests for the kernel-remover script:
1. Consider changing it to only do update-grub once all kernels that are checked are removed.
2. Display of the current running kernel and the current latest kernel.
3. An option to install curent latest kernel. This option might sound redundant, but I like to install the kernels manually rather than bundled with a dist-upgrade. |

1. is a no-go - it uses apt-get for removal, and circumventing this is not on the cards
2/3. good ideas, patches welcome  (note, we would need to change the name of the script though) |

okay, I checked everything, even with h2 script.
Facts:
- I have kerneloptions in grub from kernes taht i never installed under aptosid!
- I cannot remove thoose entries with kernelremover because
- I dont have theese kernels on my system (no entries in grub!)
I suppose, that during installation my old mbr was not deleted.
So I only need to get rid of the entries. How could I do that? |

1. cleary answered already
2. the running kernel i already/always displayed/shown
the last is never deleted as the man page says and needed for those installing automatically new kernels through the metapackages, it could be shown if it's not the running one not sure if want to do it...
3. is a non-go it's kernel-remover not installer. apt-get does already that. |
