Hi folks,

after not upgrading for some months (say, since end of March...), I do
      Code:
systemctl isolate multi-user.target
apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade

The result is that 80+ packages shall be removed - all of them seem to be related to KDE / Qt. Among them is even the metapackage "task-kde-desktop"!

For reference, you can find the full (German) d-u output here:
https://pastebin.com/XjjynnkP

Currently, Konqueror and KDE identify themselves as version 4.14.26 (and Konqueror crashes frequently...), so no KDE5 Plasma yet - I did wonder in spring when KDE 5 will come down the pipe, but it didn't till end of March...

Does any of you have a good tip on how to resolve this issue?

Thanks a lot!

TeeLittle

It is the latest QT transition, just give it time to settle down. The Siduction forum will give you more information

Just a note: it seems that the transition is over. I've DUed a couple of times since then. I have a couple of (small) issues.

First, the icon from chromium (in my panel and in the menu) disappeared. (It's there, but it is "invisible": you can click on the space where it was in the panel and it launches chromium.) Also, the firefox icon is pixelated (low resolution).

Second, and more importantly, after another DU, I had a problem that the panel would not appear in the KDE session and things would just hang. It turns out it was a problem with an update to udisks2 (you could see errors for udisksd in "dmesg".) towo posted a fix in siduction's forum: https://forum.siduction.org/index.php?topic=6818.0

Basically:

      Code:

apt install libblockdev-crypto2 libblockdev-mdraid2 libblockdev-part2 libblockdev-fs2 libblockdev-loop2 libblockdev-swap2

Everything seems to be working after the fix. (Except for the first problem above.)

(Maybe this deserves its own thread as it is not related to the transition, although it appears to be at first...)

OK, the latest update fixed the icon problems (with Chromium and Firefox) that I've posted above in this thread. (There was a "plasma-integration" update... Maybe that was it...)

There is also a new udisks2 (version 2.7.2-2) for me, which might fix the problem with the previous version, but I cannot confirm, since I had already applied towo's fix.

Just FYI.
