Post subject: desktop icons all gone after dist-upgrade?

The application list menu is gone now after I did a dist-upgrade. Luckily, before I upgraded, I had a terminal window so it brought that back up and I could fire up iceweasel from there.
Is there any way to fix my desktop? |

| If you don't get it back after logging out, logging back in again (yes, plasma can crash), you can create a new one (right mouse click); it's not very likely to be caused by an upgrade (unless you upgraded while KDE was running). |
