 Please be specific on which post does not change anything or if you tried both, please mention it

giaur,
 What if you try adding the grub option in /etc/default/grub

 GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=1280x800

 (right after the GRUB_GFXMODE) and then save, update-grub and reboot?

I would take "splash" off from GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT
 If problems are still present, then I'd add GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX="keep"

          | Ok, I mean these options (both) do nothing in my case. They does not help, still virtual terminals size are 1024x768, exactly as there is shown on picture I posted.
 Also, I can confirm nvidia cards (with official nvidia drivers) are not affected, but official nvidia drivers don't touch termial size, possibly nouveau has the same issue as intel (but I didn't test this).

 Ok, what do you mean by official nvidia drivers ?

 How were they (nvidia drivers) installed ?

 Did you use apt-get (recommended) or did you install using .run [NVIDIA-Linux-x86-313.26.run]

 Not being picky, but the last method *can* cause problems (it has with me in the past)

 *YMMV ("Your mileage may vary")

 I am going to uninstall nv and go with nouveau on one of my boxes (GeForce 7900 GS) to test a few things, later tonight as I have dinner engagements shortly.

          | I mean this drivers from nvidia site: http://www.nvidia.pl/object/linux-displ ... er-pl.html - I don't preffer to use apt-get to install nvidia driver, since nvidia's installer works fine and registers kernel moudle in dkms, so all modules will be recompiled on each kernel update.

 Ok, but I can confirm intel drivers only, I have no idea if nouveau has the same problem or not, but it seems nouveau uses framebuffer similar way as intel diver.
